Overview

Basic MP3 Toolkit is a collection of convenient tools for working with MP3 files.
It is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, even without reading a manual.
※ Currently includes Loudness Normalization and Recording PC Playback Audio (more features will be added over time).

How to Use

  1. Extract the downloaded archive file (Basic_MP3_Toolkit.zip).
  2. Place the extracted Basic MP3 Toolkit folder anywhere you like.
  3. Run Basic MP3 Toolkit.exe inside the folder to start the application.

Feature Guide: Loudness Normalization

・Adjusts the loudness of MP3 files to bring them as close as possible to the Target Loudness, without degrading audio quality.
・Loudness adjustment is performed by modifying the MP3 frame’s global_gain value (a 256‑step volume coefficient). Unless the change is extremely large, the original state can be restored later.
・Each global_gain step changes the volume by approximately 1.5 dB. Any remaining fractional adjustment is written into the ID3v2 tag as a ReplayGain value.
(This differs from the original ReplayGain definition, which is a correction value for playback at 89 dB.)
・Typical Target Loudness values range from –14 LUFS to –24 LUFS, depending on playback environment and audio type. Please adjust according to your preference.
・If the resulting Peak exceeds 1.0, clipping will occur. In that case, lower the Target Loudness. (By default, the Target Loudness is automatically corrected to prevent peaks above 1.0.)
・Adjusted files are saved in the global_gain adjusted and global_gain restored subfolders. The displayed adjustment results are not written to the original file. To re-display the original file’s information, reload the file or press F5 (unless Overwrite Original File (Unsafe) was selected).

Uninstallation

To uninstall the software, simply delete the Basic MP3 Toolkit folder.

The application also creates a settings folder at the following location:

%AppData%\AlpsCreate\Basic MP3 Toolkit

If you do not need these settings, you may delete this folder as well.
(You can access it directly by pasting the path into the Explorer address bar.)
